A revitalized the Russian player secured his first trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He defended four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
