The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services. They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Modifications Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Accounts A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said. Service Background The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
